How To Ensure You Are Healthy

Through life as a personal trainer and health coach people often look up to me and see me as a role model when it comes to exercise and healthy eating. People often ask me questions like what do I have for breakfast, what do I do in the gym every day, why don't I ever fall off the 'health wagon' and a lot more!


I'm happy to tell people the answers. For the record for breakfast I have a green vegetable smoothie 3-4 days a week. Training days I have fruit, nuts and bio/greek yoghurt, or sometimes I skip breakfast, or I have bacon and eggs or similar.

Telling people, that's the easy bit. Explaining why I do it is another story and people often switch off at that point.

People often ask the wrong questions. There is an "order of events" for losing weight, a tried and tested formula if you will.

And just to recap or for anyone new, we achieve weight loss - or any goal for that matter - by becoming healthier, that has to be the first and most important step.

So therefore asking questions like - "How do I get rid of cellulite?" or "How do I lose weight?" is sometimes pointless as the answer fundamentally is always the same - you need to get healthier.

Healthy bodies will get rid of cellulite, eventually. Healthy bodies will lose weight, eventually. Focus on your health and whatever goal you are chasing will follow. So don't get caught up just on what the weighing scales say like most people do, make a real difference to the way you feel as well as the way you look by becoming healthier.

It is like a bit of basic housekeeping, a bit of a tidy around if you catch my drift.

The two very important things you should always do to get healthier are:

1. ORAL HYGIENE.

Bleeding gums need to be sorted for you to become healthy, and free from illness.

2. GUT/DIGESTIVE SYSTEM.

A good functioning gut is KEY to becoming healthy.

If you get these two areas of your body sorted out, you will put a spring back in your step for sure. Fixing these TWO areas will help the rest of your body feel better and then eventually all the other things you want will happen.

Remember depending on how poor your oral and gut health are to start, to fix it can take anything from a few days or weeks, maybe as long as months or years to get it back to proper function.

You could, in theory, sort out your oral and gut health by just eating a "healthier" diet, based around the "paleo or cave man approach" A.K.A "healthy Atkins". I found a regular visit to the hygienist and some supplements boosted the whole process along.

So today's message is to remember if your MOUTH & GUT are not healthy you are on a loser from the word go.

Which is more effective in helping you lose weight, diet or exercise? Obviously, in the perfect world you would exercise regularly, develop a sensible and nutritious diet, get lots of sleep and drink lots of water. That would help effectively return your body to its ideal weight. But if you had to choose one or another, exercising or dieting, which is the most efficient and healthy way to lose weight?

You are focusing all your time and energy on exercise so your diet suffers, or vice versa.




As it turns out, those that believe dieting will help you lose more weight and exercise generally have a lower body mass index (BMI). That information comes from a handful of studies published in Psychological Science. 1,200 participants in South Korea, China, France, Canada and the United States were asked what they believe the main factor is that keeps people overweight. Height, weight and other measurements were taken.

The shocking revelation was, people who believed fitness and exercise was a more important factor for weight loss than proper diet and nutrition actually had higher BMI numbers. They had more body fat. This is because your weight loss mentality impacts your food choices. If you believe exercise is more important than diet for losing weight, you don't pay as much attention to what you are eating and how much you are eating.

And if you believe that proper diet and nutrition removes more weight than exercise, you are more inclined to pay attention to what you put into your body. For instance, in one of the above referenced studies, the volunteers were offered unlimited chocolate. Time and again, those that believed staying active was the key to losing weight ate more than their diet-minded counterparts.

How can you use this revealing research to your advantage? Understand that exercise can definitely help you lose weight. But also remember that effective weight loss means putting the right things into your body in the first place.

Cut back on fatty, saturated and fast foods, white flour, sugar and salt. Drink lots of water, which is often times all your body requires when you think you are hungry. Consistently focus on creating a healthy diet, and your mental beliefs will help you reach your weight loss goals faster.

Today I'm going to share with you a few of the most common hives symptoms and some ideas on preventing this health problem. Hives just might be more common than you think and some people estimate that 15% - 25% of people will get them at least once in their life. Usually something triggers an allergic reaction and your body releases histamine. Histamine is created to defend the body and fight off infections from a perceived threat. Hives usually are a red color that can be very itchy. They are normally in the shape of an oval or worm and they can vary in size. Sure an allergic reaction causes this outbreak, but it can come from food, stress, medicine, insects and anything else. Due to the wide variety of triggers that causes this condition it makes preventing it difficult. If you go to a doctor for hives you probably will get prescribed anti-histamine medicine. Besides taking prescription drugs, which can be expensive and give off harmful side effects you could try taking bee pollen. Bee pollen has anti-histamine abilities that can prevent this outbreak.



Another really good idea to prevent this ailment would be trying to find what triggers it. Sure it can be hard, but keeping a diary and writing down what the day was like before an outbreak might just help.
